Currently our custom workroom is fabricating custom draperies, bedding (coverlets) and lots of beautiful pillows for Blackberry Farm in Walland, TN. I really enjoy making pillows or seat cushions with zipper inserts- not just because there is no hand stitching involved for closing pillow forms, but I like the clean, finished look! Also down inserts give it a very luxurious feel and make “pillow fluffing” easy and fast without any feathers ever poking through! Besides that it’s nice to have the option to dry clean pillow covers especially when using them for bedding. When done right, the zipper will not show when the pillow is completed – it actually will hide right between the cording and a small little flap which overlaps.
Today was a fun day with a new client of mine who hired me for my interior design services to help with the selection of finishes for their new home. This is new construction and therefore right down my alley! I love assisting clients with picking the perfect style, look, finishes and bringing it all together from flooring to ceiling and anything in between.
After a couple of other meetings this day was dedicated to hopefully making decisions on cabinet colors and styles for the master bathroom, mud room, laundry room, upstairs bathrooms as well as the lower level kitchen. In our previous meeting we already selected the style and color for the kitchen so we didn’t have to make anymore decisions on this today.
My client Heather has fabulous taste and knows what she likes and what she does not like – so when we find the perfect look it’s easy for us to agree on it and move on to the next room.
For the main kitchen we decided on an off white with accents of gray with a glaze. The laundry room is a combination of an antiqued sage green and a “buttery” off-white. The mud room will be distressed black and for upstairs bathrooms we chose a white with a pewter glaze. The “basement” kitchen (and the entire lowest level ) will have a barn/farm feeling and this is where our cabinetry will be a combination of black and hints of accent reds.
I am excited and looking forward to making our next selections with will entail lighting, flooring, countertops, wall colors, exterior and interior finishes as well as furniture, rugs and custom draperies – all in order to make this one […]
If one is struggling with finding the right color scheme, furniture styles or fabrics for a room design simply means, that you haven’t fallen in love yet with your selections. We just delivered some pieces of furniture for a home office that we are working on at the moment and one of our inspirations for the interior design was this fabric which we selected for a chair and ottoman. The fabric will will also get incorporate in our custom window treatments and accent pillows. I will post some more pictures as our leather office chair (with blue leather) will arrive as well as a new rug and a custom office desk and side table from Lorts manufacturing. The custom window treatments will be pinch pleated drapery panels on a black wrought iron rod to underline a more simplistic and masculine feel. The Currey and company light fixture in the center of the room has already been installed as well and it fits the theme of the rest of the house.
