UNO de 50 trunk show at showhouse

Today we are set up at the Alzheimer’s of Tennessee home and garden tour show house for a trunk show with our jewelry Unode50.

We are showcasing new jewelry design, new styles and other designers from Knoxville are featuring accessories from their stores.

The Show house has been a big success so far, raising money for this amazing organization and a cause that touches so many lifes.

This year we designed the Great room for our homeowners Scott and Hope Davis with furniture from Taylor King, Our House design, Currey and company, Surya rugs, visual comfort, and many more. The custom window treatments were fabricated in our own workroom and are made of embroidered linen fabric in an off white color. The drapery hardware is wrought iron matching some other elements in the house.  The showhouse is open Tuesday through Saturday  11- 5 pm, Sunday from noon to 4 pm. Wednesday and Friday late night 6-8 pm.

Alzheimer’s show house in Knoxville

It is almost time to open the doors for the show house benefiting the Alzheimer’s Tennessee foundation. We are designing the great room and chose beautiful furniture from Taylor King, Our House Design, Surya rug company, Currey and Company, just to name a few. After our initial meeting with the Homeowners a color pallet of off whites, grays, light blues and blush tones was decided on which creates a theme throughout the house.
A beautiful hand crafted sofa from Taylor King and swivel leather chairs with nail heads provide ample seating and the rug adds splashes of color. The theme of the large Currey & Co  chandelier with twigs and branches repeats in the drapery fabric design. The linen draperies are non-functional, however add texture and design to the room. The iron base coffee table with custom painted wood top and drawer as well as two column side tables finish the design of the Great Room.

Kitchen design trends in new construction

I am currently helping 3 customers with the interior design of their new home which are under construction and at different stages during the building process. I love  helping our clients with creating furniture floor plans, lighting selections, flooring and tile selections, furniture and window treatments selection, etc., but when it comes to creating functional interior spaces, I find the most joy in designing kitchens and master bathrooms. Our  interior spaces constantly change and evolve over time with new building materials, new design styles, design trends and so forth, but kitchens in particular have changed and are changing more than any other area in our house to make it more user friendly, functional and spacious.

Technology has entered the kitchen in full force with gadgets, appliances and integrated technology which you can find from faucets  (sensory and hands free) to the fridge ( alerting you when groceries are running low) to the lighting.  Designs, materials and textures  are getting more streamlined in the overall aesthetic, more simplistic, brighter and cleaner and they are fun to work with, with so many choices available. Shelves and  The drawers are structured to leave a lot less waste of space. One of the foundations to a functional kitchen is kitchen storage. You would be left with endless frustrations and challenges with inadequate or ineffective storage. I remodeled my own kitchen three years ago and put a lot of thought into how I  use my kitchen (I love to cook) how I like to entertain (which we do a lot) and how it will make our kitchen the most functional it can be. Appliance choices of course are a huge investment and take up a nice chunk of your kitchen budget. […]

Why and when to hire an interior designer, decorator

I recently came across a great article why it makes sense to hire an interior designer or decorator. As many larger cities, Knoxville has an abundance of furniture stores and design companies, however not all are created equal. All of us offer different services, fees, specializing in new construction and remodeling, custom window coverings and draperies, gifts and accessories, lighting, rugs, etc.

Some of the most interesting facts are that you actually safe money when hiring an interior designer. It can help you avoid making costly mistakes that will not only help you safe money but can increase the value of your home. Especially when selling your home – interior design is essential when listing your home. It can help boost buyer appeal and set your home above the competition.

Another great point is that an interior designer or decorator  can give you a professional assessment of your situation, that will lead to a solid plan of action. Order of things in a design plan a ski in determining what can be repurposed or should be edited. This will not only affect the budget but help you to spend it more efficiently. An interior designer offers an extra set of eyes but these eyes are trained to see and noticed things that you may not.

Also  a designer can keep you on budget and save you time and effort.  In particular this will save you endless amounts of time researching products, brands and prices. I decided will have this readily on hand.  Also the designer will be able to build a stronger bridge between you and your architect or contractor early on and can head off design  misses in your overall plan-  again this is crucial in managing […]

Google review from design client

Tina gave us a 5 star review on google. It is always great to hear from happy customers!

Tina S.

We have worked with Wolfgang to decorate two homes – one new and one older home. He transformed both homes beautifully. Our current home is now warm and inviting. I love the decor he chooses from furniture to light fixtures to rugs! He recently helped us with exterior paint colors which are perfect. He’s fun to work with and a very talented interior designer. I highly recommend Wolfgang for interior and exterior design.

You have great tast and enjoy beautiful yet functional designs. It has been fun helping you with your house in Mallard Bay and your new home and I love making your house even more beautiful. It’s great how we were able to incorporate existing furniture and decorations into your home and how we are adding new ones! Window coverings and motorized drapes

I have been making custom window treatments, window coverings, custom bedding and draperies for about 20 years with my own company here in Knoxville.  I thought I have done it all, I thought I have seen it all, and  I always feel that there is no job too small or too big for us to handle in our workroom. Well, the job that we are currently working on might prove me wrong. The custom window treatments are  approximately 200 inches tall and on a motorized rod which is also around 200 inches in width. The draperies are pinch pleated with a decorative banding on the leading edge. We are fabricating 4 panels for a custom home and the necessary amount of widths to make this window treatment functional is 10 widths. Due to the amount of fabric (determined by the width and length) our draperies are quite heavy and we are getting quite the workout to complete these functional window coverings. The panels will be operated two ways. Either with a remote control or by wall switches which have been installed as well.
